My Mom came into town yesterday, so if I have been quiet the last two days, it is because I have been out and about with her and the boys. We went to the wonderful Vancouver Farmer’s Market yesterday and got some fresh rhubarb to make a pie, bright orange tulips with flecks of yellow, and confetti popcorn. Later on in the day, Mom took us to Gustav’s. I love the food there, but especially the cheese fondue with bavarian pretzels. I had a Reuben there for the first time, and it was delicious. We came home from dinner and we were all pretty beat, so we just lounged around until it was bedtime. Xander and Kinsey are thrilled to have another set of arms to hug them, and I am thrilled to have an extra set of hands to help me take care of them! I always miss family, but it brings it to the forefront of my mind when I have family here… I really miss living by family.
Today was busy, but beautiful! It was by far, the warmest day of the year. I think Mom brought some of that Florida sunshine with her. We went to church, and Tarver stayed home and worked on more homework than anyone should have to do in one day. Poor guy. He works so hard all week and comes home to spend the entire weekend glued to the computer with homework. Mom, the boys, and I then drove out to Babies ‘R’ Us to pick up a new breast pump. Kinsey has been nearly impossible to nurse the last few weeks, and it has finally gotten so painful that I almost passed out this morning while feeding him. On a friends recommendation, we purchased the Medala In Step Advanced. It is wonderful! If I had known how easy pumping is with a quality pump I would have bought one long ago. Alas, I hope it brings me some much needed relief, while still providing Kinsey the health benefits of breast milk.
After skyping with my Dad, pizza and boys’ bath night, we are a pretty tired. I am looking forward to the week, knowing that Mom will be here to help with potty training, errands, playtime, meals, and most importantly, adult interaction during the day! They boys really love having her here, and so do I.
Here’s to family!
Here’s to your Mom!!
